The Roll of Merit can be achieved in six sections:

  • Halter
  • Performance or Ridden
  • Costume
  • Progeny
  • Dressage
  • Endurance

A Roll of Merit certificate is awarded to a horse achieving the necessary points in any of the above sections. The Elite Roll of Merit Plaque is awarded to a horse achieving a Merit Award in any two Sections. The Supreme Roll of Merit is awarded to a horse achieving a ROM in any of the above three sections, one of which must be under saddle.

Points to achieve Roll of Merit are:

  • Stallion 100
  • Gelding 80
  • Mare 60
  • Ridden 100
  • Costume 100
  • Endurance 5000km
  • Progeny: Stallion 500
  • Mare 200

Dressage - Medium level certificate

Points are achieved at "A" Grade shows where a horse gets accredited only with the highest point win in each event on the day eg. Halter - first in class going on to championship - only gains Championship Point. In the ridden section, points are achieved only in Mare, Stallion and Gelding under saddle classes. At "B" Grade shows only Champion and Reserve Champions qualify for points.

Only horses that are registered with the NZAHBS and are 3 years old or over are eligible for Roll of Merit.

At least 20% of points must be from "A" Grade Shows.
