The New Zealand Arab Horse Breeders Society (Inc) is the registering body for
purebred and partbred/Anglo
Arab Arabian horses. The objects for which
the Society was established include the maintenance of purity of
Arabian horses in New Zealand and to encourage the breeding and
exhibition of Arabian horses. The NZAHBS is closely aligned with other Arabian
horse organisations throughout the world through membership of
the World Arabian Horse Organisation (WAHO). To meet and maintain membership
of this body, the NZAHBS must ensure that all criteria are met,
including requirements for purebred Arabian registration and the publication
of stud books. The NZAHBS also collects and verifies information
relating to Anglo Arab and part Arab horses in New Zealand and
publishes a register of these horses periodically.
The
NZAHBS conducts its Annual General Meeting each year in April and elections
for Council members are held prior to this meeting. Nominees seeking election
to Council must be full financial members of the NZAHBS and the same criteria
applies to seconders. Voting is carried out by postal ballot. Successful
candidates are elected to office for a period of two years and can seek
re-election providing all membership criteria have been met.
